Happy Feb

January is so last month calendar fans and to celebrate the fact it's Feb I'm adding a tonne of new content and stuff to the site. Of course, if you are looking to hire a magician then you don't need to worry about this dullness but I thought I'd share the fact that the site is gonna get bigger and better in the next few weeks.

On a work front, things have been very busy and I've been in the West Midlands, Gatwick, Crawley and of course a few gigs in the bright lights of London in the last few weeks.

Christmas Magic

Hello wrap fans!

Just a quick note to thank everybody that booked me for events in December. It was a great month which seen me darting all over the UK to bust out miracles for discerning spectators at a wide range of events. I’m taking it easy for a couple of days now and munching my body weight in quality street and watching more animated movies than is right to watch but if you need me I’m only an email away. Here’s to 2012!

Magician at Drinks Party, London

Magic is a fantastic job but you can get kinda fed up working on your own so tonight was a treat as i was working with a couple of great magicians on a big job in the centre of London. The party was to celebrate the 21st birthday of a fundraising company. There was about 300 guests and they did the smart thing and booked a couple of magicians as its impossible to for one guy to get around to everybody. The great thing with a couple of magicians is you can get very different styles.

I spent a fair amount of time performing outside for the dirty smokers and hamburger quaffers as inside the bar was very loud. Most of my close up magic works with very limited words but I always need to be heard for certain parts. It’s a real push to perform miracles with House of pain blearing out of the massive speakers. Anyway, it was a great night and a lot of fun working with a pickpocket and silent act.

Magic Convention in London

I had a fantastic time over the last few days at the international magic convention in London. I always make time to go to magic conferences around the UK and around the world to learn new magic and hang out with my friends in magic. I have been going to this London magic event for over 10 years and this year it was the 40th anniversary and they pulled out all the stops. Magicians were flown in from all around the world and many different styles of magic were showcased from mind reading, dove acts, manipulation, comedy, cards and pure sleight of hand.

Over the weekend I got a few hours sleep total and I managed to stay off the booze and drank water the whole weekend. That said, I did get a terrible cold the next day and lost my voice for a few days afterwards. I’m used to going to these type of events and I know that you are always a bit “beaten up” afterwards but I wouldn’t miss it for anything…roll on next year.

Magician at Casino in Queensway, London

I was living the high life tonight busting out miracles for the high rollers at Queensway Gala casino. Magic has been synonymous with the gambling mecca of Las Vegas for more than 50 years but in this country casinos tend to be more about just pure gambling than entertainment but hopefully this will change.

I was based in the restaurant performing cool magic for the people taking a break from the games. I didn’t know really fancy approaching people who had lost money as I didn’t think they would be as receptive to the close up magic but they loved it. The whole night was Las Vegas themed with an Elvis impersonator and showgirls dotted around the place. Hopefully I will be back to show those croupiers a thing or two about shuffling cards and to amaze their patrons of the casino.

Magician at Square Restaurant, Mayfair

I’ve just got back from performing my formal close of magic show in the private dining area of Square restaurant just off Berkeley Square, Mayfair. I think Mayfair must have the highest concentration of magicians anywhere in London, I seem to spend half my performing career here. I guess a lot of this is because of the high amount of quality restaurants, hotels and bars in this area.

The party was a celebration for a couple who’ve recently got married. Several of the guests only spoke Russian with very limited English so I had to perform a lot purely visual close-up magic. I try and concentrate on performing funny close up magic and sometimes purely visual is the way to go, in this instance I had to drop all my hilarious repartee to rely performing hard-hitting magic without a lot of banter. My formal close-up magic show is a lot of fun to perform, in it I get to perform a lot of magic routines I can’t do in my table or walk around sets because of length of time they require.

Tamara Ecclestone Billion Dollar Girl

Good evening fans of trashy TV. You may have spotted me making a 15 seconds cameo in Tamara Ecclestone’s Billion $$ Girl show on Channel 5 tonight. I filmed it a few months ago at a gig I was covering for another magician colleague and I had no idea there was going to be a film crew present. Oddly I’d seen Tamara and her sister a few weeks prior at the launch for the mega bucks towers One Hyde Park.

It was a very small party of 10 guests and i performed some close up magic and some larger pieces for the whole table from my formal close up magic show. For those interested in such things, yes she is as crazy a box of frogs but charming as well.

Only Running Footman Mayfair Magician

Last night I was on the road entertaining in a pub called The Only Running Footman in Mayfair for a staff drinks reception. The pub was heaving when I arrived as it was just after work and once I’d battled my way through the ten deep bodies protecting the perimeter of the pub I was greeted with a charming venue.

I’d been booked by a finance company to entertain about 25 guests from their team in a small private room above the pub. They were a great bunch of people and really lapped up the close up magic. All city slickers love a bit of banter with the close up magician so you have to have your wits about you but I came through unscathed. All in all it was a top night entertaining a good bunch of people and felt very much like the Christmas party season had started.

Coming Together

Hey magician seekers, I've been working really hard on the new site for the last couple of months and things are really falling into place. There are still some changes to be made and not everything works properly but I'm getting there.. My next big thing over the next 6 weeks will be the promo video but I should have some video footage on the video page in a few days.
