A magician's diary

It is so hot at the moment I am having to work without my jacket which is a real pain in the ass as it limits the kinda magic you can do. All the stuff about it going up your sleeve is nonsense but I do need lots of pockets. Last night I was at Bar Eivissa busting a move and I tried out some new stuff. Seemed to go over really well so those routines should be making it into my act some time soon.Last week I was in Hull visiting a couple of magician mates called Adam Hayden and Ross Jones who live in Hull and perform some amazing magic. If you get to see them then you are in for a treat. The big event was the Deal or No Deal party in the pub because Adam's friend was in it. A bloke came in selling chocolate in a plastic bag on the dodge. He didn't manage to pimp any to us, but it got me thinking...if you are selling something in a pub illegally you probably want to go for something that has more value than chocolate seeing as I can get a choc fix for 26p 15 feet from the pub. Sand or lint probably has better wholesale value.
On one of the days I was in Hull I went with Adam to Nottingham to take some pictures of him performing close up magic for his upcoming website. It was kinda odd being at a magic job and not performing myself but I got to observe another professional magician at work and see how they go about things. He went over great and all was well.
On Saturday night I was in Southgate, North London at a 60th birthday party in a private house that was a lot of fun. I was also recently performing magic at a wedding in a very nice venue in Watford called the Grove.
More news soon...

So today was a revelation, I worked out that I am a tie for the 4th most famous person to attend my school, if you are interested fact fans it was http://www.richardchalloner.com/index.asp.The order is...
4)Matt Bacon - Sound recordist. I seen him on the credits of a Liz Hurley find-a-designer show.
3)Jimmy Glass - Years above me. Ex pro-goalkeeper who scored in the last seconds of a game to keep Carlise up a few years ago. There is a chance this is wholly untru because somebody told me years ago.
2) Ben Lake - In at number 2 is Ben who is a star in musicals in London and stuff like that. He may well do more than that but my only evidence is that I seen him on telly doing the Jerry Springer Opera thing. I went to Hungary when I was at school, top lad.
1) Stephen Reid - Blackburn Rovers and Ireland midfielder. My brother was in the same year as his brother. I of course have modified this story over time to suggest I actually knew him mat school. I confess to my stupid lie.
I know what you are thinking, finally we get a glimpse into the real Noel Qualter. I would have saved this all for the autobiog but my publisher has stopped returning my calls.
On a magic note I did a pre-world cup party last week at Grosvenor House in london with a bunch of other magicians. Loads of footballer, natch. I'm a big football fan so this was a lot of fun. I'm off to Watford tomorrow afternoon to do a wedding. I have added some great new tricks in the last month or two and it's a lot of fun getting used to performing them. Hopefully I will do them tomorrow.
Peas.
