A magician's diary

Doncha just hate it when your computer crashes. So I am now writing this for the second time...So I had a suprise call the other day from a friend who's a mind reader called Luke Jermay he is doing a show in Catford, London at the Broadway Theatre and has asked me to do an opening spot, I was pleased to oblige.
I make 100% of my money from performing close up/table magic but I've had a gradual desire to try my hand at performing a stand up magic show. So for the last 18 months I've been working on it and I've come up with some great routines that I'm very proud of so this opportunity is great to try out this material. I have done the act a few times but it takes ages to really work in a cabaret show. With close-up magic you can bed in a routine very quickly because in an evening you could do the effect 20 times.
I'll be at the theatre doing my act this Friday and Tuesday, Wednesday next week. If you are coming to see Luke's show I'll see you there.
Last Friday I did a product launch in Camden, London for a new chocolate bar. I tried to avoid the chocolate as I'm trying to loose some weight. I keep telling people I'm putting the weight on to play de Niro's character in Raging Bull 2 but nobody believes me.
On Saturday I did a close up magic gig at the Royal Thames Yacht Club opposite Harvey Nicks in Knightsbridge, London. Although I was booked to do close up magic I ended up doing an impromptu stand up set at the end as the singing cabaret act was delayed. I didn't have the props for my cabaret act with me so I improvised an act with what I had on me - I am the MacGyver of magic.
peace out.

Last weekend I did a boat trip on the Thames on Friday evening which is always fun as it's a bit different. It was to celebrate an insurance firm merger and everybody had a great time...especially the owners of the boat as the bar was drank dry.Saturday evening I was at a wedding in Cockfosters, Hertfordshire and on Sunday I was near by doing a 21st birthday party in the garden. I spent most of Monday watching the cricket which is something I never thought I'd day seeing as in the preceeding 28 years of my life I had watched less then 3 minutes and that was only because I couldn't find the remote. In the evening I went to see a lecture at The Magic Circle which was pretty good.
Last night I went to see a show by a magician friend Pete Wardell who is doing a one man show called "Hustle" in Catford. Friday is the last day so if you want to see a great magic show go to www.falseimpressions.com for ticket info.

Dear Diary,I am sorry for my prolonged absense, I can get a note from my mum if you wish.
Well since my last entry I've been on holiday for a while in Ireland visiting relatives. Frequented some ale houses and I found out the answer is at the bottom of a glass...as long as the question is who made the glass. I did plan on filming some new tricks for the video page but for several reasons I didn't manage to get it done. I hope to have another trick added before Christmas though, hopefully.
Whilst I was in Ireland I worked more on my new cabaret act which is really coming together. The final effect is when I have somebody selected totally at random and I predict their whole life with proof...honestly.
I had some new promo photographs done last week which should be added to the website when it is next updated. Also done quite a few nice weddings in the summer sun which is always nice. September is looking busy and it's not long till the manic Christmas season.
Take care of yourself and each other.
